The 1954 models were powered by a new, 230 HP engine and were, according to the copy writers that year, "the most beautiful motoring creations of all time."

For the first time since 1950, a new, de luxe product catalog was published, illustrating the four basic series in this order:  Sixty Special, Sixty-Two, Eldorado and Seventy-Five. That is also the sequence in which I have presented the illustrations below. There were also a large fold-out and a couple of mailing catalogs.

The artist's drawings from the prestige catalog, below, are mixed in with color photographs published in the dealer "mailers" that year; you will see that the artists used a certain degree of license to lower, widen and stretch these otherwise massive cars.  The publication date on the prestige catalog is December 1953.

A definite change of styling will be witnessed in these new models, compared with the more bulbous shapes of 1948 through 1953.  Now the general lines were straight and bold.  Front bumper "bullet" impact guards were similar to those of the previous year, incorporating a "shell" inside a "shell-case".

The distinguishing mark of the 1954 Cadillacs is the front clip with its gull-wing bumpers and "bullet" impact guards or "Dagmars".

The Seventy-Five Series

Both the "Sixty Special" and "Seventy-Five" cars shared the rear clip shown
at the right; the name"Fleetwood" was spelled out in script between the tips of the "V"
